61/365 Good Light= Lots of Photos

Yesterday I took some photos of Baby A in our bonus room, which has some nice light on sunny days, but it was a little late in the day so I tried again today.  I have taken some photos in there before but today it was earlier in the day and I found some really good light.  There are a lot of pictures in this post, but photos of my sweet, chubby, naked baby in good light?  I couldn't help myself.

Yep, seriously...a rainbow.  I love this shot, even though my focus is a little soft.  The next shot I nailed my focus, but D decided to photo bomb...

Looking back at it, I don't know why I didn't lower my shutter speed considerably on this to shoot at a lower ISO and then I could have opted to add grain back in, if desired.  Although I do like the grain in this photo, (usually I do not like grain, period) that would have been the better way to go about this shot.  I think shooting at higher shutter speeds out of necessity has become habit when shooting D and Baby A so I'm glad I took this shot to remind me to think harder about my options.

58/365 Finn McMissile

Today's post was inspired by the recent blog post over at clickinmoms.com featuring Melissa Gibson's personal project in which she took photos of her children's toys.  The photos are so much fun and really amazing.  She stated in the post that this personal project really helped her learn to see light differently and to be able to take her time and not feel rushed in the way she is when taking photos of her kids.  So, I thought I may give some similar images a try from time to time for the same reasons.

57/365 Nursery

I'm still trying to learn the light in Baby A's nursery.  I seems to either be too dark or very direct light.  I have a feeling the best light of the day for this room is while Baby A is napping.  But, the direct light today gave me a chance to play with a foam board (I don't have a reflector) for Baby A's face and good practice since I haven't shot in this type of lighting much.

I took very few photos on Christmas and wanted to just be present (and not present behind the camera), so I just snapped a few while the boys opened gifts.

54/365 Christmas Eve

My husband's family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve and his parents host a big open house.  My mother-in-law cooks an amazing amount of food:  ham, turkey, sausage balls, cheese balls, candied nuts, dips, relish and veggie trays, rolls from scratch, 5-6 kinds of cookies and candies (not including the ones D and I made and brought)..and I have no idea how she does it all.  When all the open house guests go home, she grabs a cup of coffee and props her feet up for a much deserved break.  This is D being mischevious in that moment and one of my favorite photos from the day.

51/365 Christmas Ribbons

Well, my LR trial is over :-(.  The weather lately has been very dreary and rainy and there's not a lot of light to be had so I flipped my 50mm around today to try my hand at macro shots with it.  It was hard since I had to manually focus, but without an adapter ring, it was hard to manually focus while holding the lens up to my camera.  Also, the depth of field is so incredibly shallow and since it was night time and kinda dark with artificial light, it made it hard to focus. I might try again another day in daylight.

47/365 Feeling Indecisive

I couldn't decide what I wanted to post today.  I experimented with the Citrine and Casablanca LR preset from Clickin moms (from the Clickitupanotch facebook page).

Guess who had chocolate mousse at his preschool Christmas party?

46/365 My Boys

Whew.  I feel like the last few days have flown by and have been super busy and my photos show it, but at least I'm still shooting and posting.  I think this is a mommy goggles photo, but I love it since I rarely get shots of both boys together.  I wanted to jump up on the couch and get another angle from above them, but Baby A fell over and D got up and the moment was over. Even though these moments come often, they are fleeting and sometimes I take what I can get because typically they are over in the time it takes to reach for my camera.

44/365

We went to visit my husband's aunt and uncle today.  They gave D (and Baby A) some light up snowmen.  D loves them and held them the whole way home.  Tonight he went to bed with one as a nightlight.
