It looks like you did a nice job, one side of the face is lit where the other has more shadow...did you use a reflector?? I love the expression on his face, too....if he's at all like mine, it's "fine mommy, I'll let you take ANOTHER picture of me". He's gazing a bit out of the frame, which makes me wonder what he is looking at...have you tried this as a square crop?? I think if it was a square, with him centered, you might get a nice diagonal from that bit of negative space, to his eye, to his shoulder....I'm trying to use my hands on my monitor here to see it as a squae....
Thanks, Missy! No, I didn't use a reflector. Thanks for the square crop suggestion. Maybe I will play around with it more. Isince he was in the doorway, I was hoping the light drop off would black everything on the left (camera right) side but he wasn't standing far enough back and he was not willing to pose very long.
Great lighting and adorable expression! :)

DeleteI think you did a great job! I like it...it's a beautiful portrait and I really like the black and white conversion...:)
ReplyDeleteLooks just about perfect to me! I see the triangle under the eye, his expression, and tone of the photo. Nice job.
