You asked about the aperture I used for my shaped bokeh---I took that photo with a 50mm lens and the aperture was all the way opened up to f/1.4. I set my ISO low, I think it was around 100. I put the Christmas lights up in the basement, they were just hanging on the wall, and the pumpkin was sitting on a TV tray about 8 feet in front of the wall with the lights. I was about 4 feet from the pumpkin when I took the photo. The lights in the basement were off and my husband held a spotlight (one they use when they work on cars???) up over the pumpkin for me. I set my focus on the pumpkin and used my meter to set the shutter speed. Here is a link to another tutorial on it!
Beautiful photo:) It's nice and bright. Maybe I would rather focus on toes...I am sure you tried that option too:) Otherwise I check your blog every day and I really like your photos!
